Which boat can I drive without a licence?

In Spain you can operate a boat of up to 5 metres in length with an engine of up to 15 HP (11 kW) without any qualification, under Royal Decree 875/2014. Our 4 licence-free boats (Solar 450, Remus 450, Remus 450 II and Astec 480) all fall within that limit: up to 5 people, fuel included and no licence. You only need to be over 18 and take the 15-minute safety briefing before setting off.

How much does it cost to hire a licence-free boat by the hour?

Prices start at 75€/h with fuel included. We work in time slots: 1 hour from 75€, 2 hours from 115€, half a day (4 hours) from 150€ and a full day (8 hours) from 220€ in low season. Rates go up in high season and at weekends. There are no platform fees and no extra fuel charge: the price you book is the final price.

How far can I travel without a licence from Blanes?

Regulations allow navigation up to 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) from the coast. From the Port of Blanes, this lets you explore numerous coves northwards (towards Lloret de Mar) and southwards (towards Malgrat de Mar). In 2-3 hours you can visit several coves, anchor for snorkelling and return to port at leisure.

What if I've never driven a boat?

That's the most common case among our customers. License-free boats are designed precisely for people with no prior experience: intuitive controls, low-power engine (15 HP), 5-knot navigation (cruising speed) and protected coastal area. In the 15-minute briefing we teach you how to manoeuvre in the harbour, anchor, use the VHF radio and return to the mooring. To date no customer has had trouble handling the boat after the briefing.

How many people fit in a license-free boat?

Our 4 license-free boats hold 4 to 5 people (adults and children count the same). Remus 450 is ideal for couples or small families, and Solar 450, Remus 450 II and Astec 480 take up to 5 people. If you need 6 or 7 seats, take a look at the licensed boats (Mingolla Brava 19, Trimarchi 57S, Pacific Craft 625) or our Private Excursion with skipper. The price is per boat, not per person, so the more people you bring, the cheaper it gets per head.

How fast do licence-free boats go?

Licence-free boats with a 15 HP engine reach a top speed of approximately 12-15 knots (about 22-28 km/h). This is a comfortable and safe speed for coastal cruising, anchoring in coves and enjoying the scenery at a relaxed pace.

Can I take children on a licence-free boat?

Yes, children of any age are welcome on board. The driver must be at least 18, but passengers can be of any age. All our boats include life jackets of every size, including children's sizes. Many families choose our licence-free boats precisely because of their stability and safety.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Accepted Answer

If bad weather prevents the trip we move your date at no cost; if no date works, we issue a voucher for the amount paid valid for 12 months. If you contracted the Weather guarantee, you choose between a new date or a full cash refund, excluding the price of the guarantee itself. The criteria are objective: an official AEMET coastal warning for the area during your rental slot, sustained wind or gusts above 20 knots, or our staff's decision on safety grounds.
